MINING HISTORY OF ROTHWELL
Mining likely started in Rothwell as early as the 14th century and it supported generations of families up until the 1980s, when the pits were closed. Find out more about how important it was to our town here!

MEDIEVAL ROTHWELL
Rothwell was bigger than Leeds in medieval England and was frequently visited by nobles and even Kings. You can still see traces of medieval Rothwell, including the ruined Castle off Woodlane. Find out what made our town so special!
